I loved shooting this wedding! Everything was so clean and simple and done in such excellent taste! The whole day from the preparations to the dinner was held at Tahl’s brother’s property in Acrondale, NY. It’s a quaint little farm with a few chickens, some “miniature donkeys” (I’m sure there’s a technical name for them) and a couple goats and sheep. As you can see from the photos below, I ate it up! I mean really, how often does a city girl get to get in the face of a farm animal?! Even in my line of work, not very often. The day started out beautiful, partly cloudy skies with blotches of blue, but soon the rain came pouring down. (When I lived in California, rain would drizzle then pour, here in NY, thunder, then bam! Monsoon!!!!)
Days like this are a testament to the importance of low stress and flexibility on the big day. The rain was pouring and it seemed highly unlikely that Tahl and Bryan were going to get the hillside ceremony the had hoped for. The ground would be too mushy for guests to make the small hike up the hill and– should they really take the risk of another downpour mid-ceremony? Probably not. Everyone seemed a bit concerned and why shouldn’t they be? Tahl on the other hand was worry-free. She didn’t seem to care whether they got married in the living room or on the patio, but clearly her first choice had been the hill overlooking the whole valley at sunset. Nevertheless, I’m pretty sure her focuse was on just marrying Bryan. Ultimately the ceremony was held outside on the patio where the cocktail hour would follow. This way, if the clear sky gave way to rain everyone could make a mad dash for cover. Luckily that never happened. Even with a ceremony set up on the fly this has to be one of my favorite set ups in the past couple months. I think it’s mostly because I love when guest are just gathered, standing around the couple. It’s like a big hug. In a way I feel like people pay attention more, they become involved. It was just beautiful and even though I’ve spent hours with these images, as I scroll through them I get a big smile on my face each time. I can just tell– these are the faces of two very happy people, I think you’ll agree. Congratulations Tahl and Bryan, it was a honor and a privilege!!
