Last weekend I had the wonderful pleasure of shooting Nikki and Doug’s wedding at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens in the Rose Garden. The ceremony started promptly at 9am which was perfect because we had such soft beautiful morning light! The guest list was small, but enormous in spirit. I don’t think I’ve seen so many happy tears in one day in my whole life! Considering what I do for a living that’s really say a lot. Nikki and Doug were officiated by their close friend Anthony, which gave the ceremony a totally intimate vibe to start with. But then they invited guests to speak openly about the bride and groom. It was at point when the water works really began. Nikki and Doug’s friends sharred memories and expressed their admiration and respect for the couple. It was even hard for me to keep from tearing up– alright alright- I’ll admit it, I got a little gushy too.

Lunch was held at a Brooklyn favorite called Applewood in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. Let me just say, this place– A-Mazing! The food was sooo good, and the staff, couldn’t have been cooler. It was a relatively tight space to shoot but since I was flying solo that day it was no trouble at all. There were plenty more toasts to follow too, mostly my Nikki’s dad, who stood up four times to tell embarrassing stories about Nikki’s youthful adventures. As for details, Nikki and Doug had toy dinosaurs as their prevailing theme and made their own terrariums as table centerpieces which guests were able to to take home as party favors. Now that you’ve got the backstory, I hope you enjoy the photos below as much as I enjoyed making them.

Congrats to the Nikki and Doug! You two are so kind and creative and you deserve all the happiness in the world! Many many thanks for letting me be a part of your very special day!
