I rarely post press to my blog, it’s an aesthetic thing. I like photos in the blogroll, not screenshots. I’m finicky I know. It’s just prettier to link most things above in the info menu but this time I had to post— this time is big…
A couple weeks ago something awesome happened, actually several awesome things happened but this post is about one in particular. I’ve actually been so overwhelmed with it all that it’s taken me until now to sit down and blog and blog about it. Even now, in all honesty, I still feel I’m lacking for the right words to express just how excited, honored, and mind-blown I am. Here goes anyway— I was selected as one of Rangefinder Magazine’s 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography 2013. To give you some context, this is an international award given to wedding photographers who have been nominated ‘by someone in the industry’ and who have officially been in business for 5 years or less. Did I mention it was international?! Gahhh! HOLY. FREAKIN’. BANANAS! As if that wasn’t kick-ass enough, it happened my 30th birthday! Not a bad way to welcome the next decade of my life right? Needless to say, I was flying pretty high. In an industry as large and international as wedding photography is not only an enormous honor to be among so many photographers I admire and respect it’s friggin’ surreal! As anyone who’s trying to do anything, it’s one thing for your friends and your parents to think you’re great or good or talented, but it’s quite another, (and feels pretty amazing), to be recognized within the industry. It’s pretty much the best.
The digital issue of Rangefinder was released on October 23, 2013 (that would be my b-day!!) and the print edition is hitting the magazine shelves nationwide now. I got my copy in the mail yesterday, woohoo! It was like my birthday all over again, except more like Christmas or something, ’cause you know, it’s not my birthday anymore.
Check out the rest of the super talented 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography 2013 online here or pick a copy up at any major magazine retailer. It’s worth a look. There’s some seriously kick-ass photographers in there and few people I’m honored to call my friends.
Thank you Rangefinder Magazine and to all my crazy awesome clients whose trust is the reason this has happened at all. Thank you to you all for seeing something in my work I can’t always see for myself. I feel more motivated than ever. Here’s to the next decade of my life and my work. I’m excited to see where things go from here.
…as for whoever nominated me, THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU :)
