I met Matt and Jocelyn about a year ago over a gmail video chat so when I showed up at the Citizen Hotel in Sacramento California to shoot their wedding it was technically the first time we met. It didn’t seem to matter much though, as soon we met we were as comfortable as old friend and that’s exactly how I like it. Matt mentioned that he wanted to use the urban environment around the historical hotel for their portraits, which of course I was totally into, so we walked across, up and down the street using the empty store front as backdrops and of course, stopped off at Ceaser Chavez Park to snap a shot with some of the Occupy protesters. It couldn’t have been more appropriate given the historical theme of the Citizen Hotel.
Jocelyn had her dress made just for her since she couldn’t find anything she liked on the rack, I did this with my prom dress 10 years ago so I totally understand. I especially loved her velvet sash– so very unique! Matt’s dad did all the graphic design for their invitions, program, menus, seat cards etc. Altogether Matt and Jocelyn’s wedding was simple and chic and it was an honor to be a part of it. Congrats to them both!
